What is the Conversion Rate?

The conversion rate is an important metric in web analytics that measures the percentage of visitors who complete a desired action on your website, such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter or filling out a contact form. This rate is calculated by dividing the number of conversions by the number of total visitors and then multiplying by 100 to express it as a percentage.

For example, if Pirsch Analytics shows that your website had 1,000 visitors in a month and 50 of those visitors completed a purchase, the conversion rate would be calculated as follows:

Conversion rate = (number of conversions / total visitors) x 100 = (50 / 1,000) x 100 = 5%

This metric is crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of your website and marketing efforts. A high conversion rate indicates that your website is succeeding in getting visitors to take the action you want them to take, while a low conversion rate could indicate areas for improvement in website design, usability or clarity of the call to action.
